The BAP program is an all inclusive group bluegrass school instructional program for grades 4-12. Guitar, mandolin and banjo are taught in a group setting, with bass, violin, and vocals added during ensembles

Upon completion of BAP Tutor 1 the student will:
  1) Learn the common chord forms and progressions in the key of G
  2) Learn to play lead and back-up for three songs
  3) Memorize developmental exercises
  4) Learn proper hand positions and body postures (technique)
  5) Be able to "jam" with other bluegrass musicians by ear.

The BAP program includes an instruction book for each instrument and a teachers manual. Common to folk music, tablature (tab) an easily read method for stringed instruments is used. The tab however is only a guide, as the exercises and songs will be memorized by the students.

Because the method "builds" on previous learned material, this is easily accomplished. Most other bluegrass methods use a wide variety of songs to learn new techniques. the bap program uses basic exercises and song, so new techniques, and licks may be added as the student progresses. to acquire ear training skills students will "jam" with B.A.P. sound files available on our website. By using the downloadable demo version of Finale, the student can practice at their own pace.

This also will develop the student's ear since bluegrass is rarely played with written music. To complete the bluegrass band, violin and bass music versions are included in standard music notation so these instruments (taught in their string class) may be added to the BAP ensemble.
